Dr. Saad Saad is a retired Co Medical Director at the Hovnanian Children Hospital. Saad Saad was raised in Kuwait after being born in Palestine. Saad was one of his parent’s eight children. Of the eight of his parent’s children, two hold PhD’s in engineering, two earned their Masters Degree in engineering, three are surgeons and one is a teacher. He earned his Medical degree from Cairo University in Egypt 47 years ago with honors while ranking number two in his graduating class. Saad Saad immigrated, 45 years ago, to the United States of America after completing his internship in England. He residency was completed in pediatric surgery, and surgery in the USA Board Certified in Pediatric Surgery. Saad Saad has four children that are all a result of his 42 year marriage. Saad Saad’s children are successful as are there father. One is a lawyer, one is an ICU nurse and two are surgeons.
There are two inventions that has been patented by Saad Saad. He has developed several innovative pediatric procedures. There has been thousands of pediatric surgeries performed by Saad. The surgeries over the past 40 years has been performed on children from infants to teenagers. He has performed complex surgeries on poor children for free over the eight Medical Missions he has done to Jerusalem.
At Hackensack Meridian Health Care System, Saad Saad was the Co-Medical Director of K Hovnanian Children hospital. He also held the position of Surgeon-in-Cheif there before he retired.
Saad Saad know that he wanted to go into the medical profession in 1965 while he was attending high school in Kuwait. He first thought that he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his older brothers who were both engineers. The 110 degree F. temperatures that were common during the summers of Kuwait were too hot Saad thought, to be working outside in construction during Kuwait’s super hot summers.
It only took a few summers for Saad Saad to come to the conclusion that he wanted to work in a profession where he would be working where air conditioning was avalaible indoors. He would become a surgeon who performed surgeries in air conditioned rooms and not just be any kind of doctor. Learn more:
Saad was trained to become a pediatric surgeon by Dr. H Biemann Othersen. His training took place in Charleston, South Carolina. To be honest, kind, and hardworking was the lesson that Saad learned from Dr. Othersen that held the greatest value. He also taught Saad that no matter the child’s financial status, religion, color or mental and physical health, to treat all children the same.
