Daniel Taub is the current Director of Strategy and Planning at the Yad Hanadiv Foundation, a philanthropic organization that is committed to creating resources to advance Israel as a healthy and vibrant democratic society. He is a distinguished international lawyer and diplomat who served as the Israeli ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2011 to 2015.
During his four-year tenure as the Israeli ambassador, Taub made a significant impact on the business, academic and cultural links between the two nations. He saw more than 300 Israeli businesses open up operations in the U.K and the Israel-Britain bilateral trade increased tremendously.
Daniel has always been vocal about his advocacy for freedom of expression and assembly. In 2012, he expressed his fears about the atmosphere on some campuses in the UK noting that the administrators ought to ensure that views, including those of Israel supporters, needed to be expressed without fear of any hostile repercussions.
This was before The U.K.’s National Union of Students’ national executive committee voted to adopt a boycott of Israel. In 2014, Daniel visited Bradford despite George Galloway, the city’s representative to parliament, declaring the area an ‘Israel-free zone.’ Taub is fearless, focused and an advocate of anti-oppressive and anti-racism practices.
Daniel Taub holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University, a Master’s degree in law from University College London (UCL), a Bachelor’s degree in Literature from Trinity College, Oxford University. He was born and raised in the Great Britain and moved to Israel in 1989 after attaining his law degree.
Taub joined the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and served as a combat medic as well as a reserve officer in the international law department. In 1991, he joined the Israeli Foreign Ministry where he held several legal and diplomatic posts. Daniel has represented Israel in numerous global legal and diplomatic forums and conferences. He was the legal adviser to Israel’s missions to the UN in New York and Geneva.
Taub also spearheaded the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and the Israel-Syrian negotiations. In 2011, Daniel was appointed as Israel ambassador to the UK. When presenting his credentials to the Queen, he told her that he was delighted to be back and would show his gratitude by strengthening the ties between his two beloved countries.
Taub held the post for four years and made a massive impact on the bilateral trade between the two countries, increasing it $8 billion within the first two years.
In 2015, Taub moved to Yad Hanadiv Foundation, where he currently serves as the Director of Strategy and Planning. He has vast experience in negotiation processes and diplomacy, and he constantly writes, speaks and lectures on international law and negotiation theory.
Daniel Taub is irrefutably a brilliant leader, remarkable diplomat and lawyer, and a selfless peace advocate. He has made a great impact in the society, and he is celebrated for his efforts to promote peaceful coexistence among countries.
